Cami grew up in Bakersfield, California. She started playing tennis at age six, and played tennis professionally from 1982 (she turned pro just before her 16th birthday) until 1996. She has career wins over Steffi Graf, Zina Garrison, Helena Sukova, and Chris Evert. She reached the semi-finals of the French Open in 1984, and won several matches during her career at Wimbledon, the U.S. Open, and the Australian Open in singles as well as doubles.

After she ended her professional tennis career, Cami attended college at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she double-majored in Psychology and Communications and minored in German; she graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Cami then received a Fulbright Scholarship in 2001 to do graduate research in Germany, a country she became very fond of through her professional tennis days. She stayed on beyond the Fulbright year and took advantage of an opportunity to earn a Master’s degree in Psychology in Germany; she lived in Wuerzburg, Germany for five years in this venture.

Cami then moved to Eugene, Oregon in 2006 to marry her now-husband. She worked in Eugene/Springfield for 14 years as an outpatient therapist/ counselor at a private non-profit mental health agency, working with children who had many challenges. It was there that Cami was trained and certified as a neurofeedback practitioner in 2019, and this powerful tool has been a game-changer for most of the clients she worked with and their families.

Her husband, who is a teacher and coach, had accepted a job at a high school in the Corvallis area in 2016, and they eventually moved to the area in 2021.

Cami has also taught tennis lessons since 1996 in conjunction with studying and working, and she has taught pickleball lessons since 2018. Cami enjoys staying fit with cycling, hiking, gym workouts, and leading a healthy lifestyle, and she prioritizes spending time with friends, maintaining her Christian faith and values, and giving to those less fortunate in various ways.
