TESTIMONIALS

Vinny Mestler,
University of Oregon Track and Field Athlete

“My neurofeedback work with Cami Schermerhorn has been
nothing short of life changing! That may sound dramatic but it is the truth. I am a track and field athlete at the University of Oregon and I spent nearly 2 years struggling with fainting while running. This would happen during workouts and even races. It would involve loss of consciousness or riding the line of consciousness, twitching, hyperventilating and more. It was awful and I underwent all kinds of heart tests and tried countless different methods to solve it. Nothing worked until I tried neurofeedback.

At first, I was very confused on what it is and how it works. I was very skeptical to try it but I had no other leads on solutions so I figured why not. From the very start Cami treated me amazingly. She is very accommodating and answered all of my questions. She is very thorough and good at her job. Despite her office being 45 minutes away from where I live, she made herself available on weekends and even drove to me and set up shop in my house just so we could keep consistent progress. Throughout each session she monitored my progress and allowed me to have input on what the next steps would be.

Her office is very welcoming, open and feels like an easy place to detach from the world for a short time. Not only was the process enjoyable, but neurofeedback WORKED. As I write this, I have not had a fainting or loss of consciousness episode in over 6 months! This includes countless workouts and two races.

I finally feel like myself again. I am able to complete workouts from start to finish while feeling strong and in control. I was very close to quitting the sport I love, but thanks to Cami I am now able to compete again with confidence and the peace of mind that I can control how my brain reacts to workouts and races. If you are ever on the fence about working with Cami please take the step and reach out to her! ”

"Cami brings a unique and powerful background to her work. She is a former tennis professional with years of experience as an athlete and coach. She is also a highly trained practitioner of neurofeedback, a safe, non-invasive technology for improving mental and emotional well-being.  Cami is also a delightful person, warm and friendly, with a strong dedication to helping."

“I have noticed being able to sleep better. Even if I wake up in the night I'm able to fall back asleep much easier.I have had an overall better self-esteem, this summer being the first time I've consistently felt "pretty" even without any feedback from others saying so, and I don't think it's because I look different. I'm just feeling more confident in my own skin. The alpha theta session led to some significant self discoveries that I want to explore more and follow through with in some of my closest relationships. I really appreciate Cami and her easygoing personality that made it easy to relax and settle into this new to me experience.”

"Neurofeedback is one of the most gracious gifts to one's brain, mind, and body. Though by the end of the needed series of appointments there is a clear awareness of deeper brain integration and renewed synapsis paths in areas of thought, emotional and intellectual skills that had been scattered for decades, it does not give a feeling of over-stressful work. In fact the space for quieting your mind, or intentional focus, and working with such a kind and caring counselor is part of the nervous system healing process.

There is a bit of need to be willing to own the places that may have given a bit of shame (for me in my adult adhd problem areas). I had to admit the lack of focus I have where I know others easily have it - in thought, reading, organization, speech patterns, and falling/staying asleep. It affects self - control in my eating, as well.  These areas each improved noticeably in the 20 visits I went in for. I live in much more peace. I know that I could get more improvement and a sense of more normalcy inwardly but also in relationship with others.

I also was so grateful to work with Cami, she had set her office up very welcoming and bright. She had thought of details like warm blankets and snacks. But I especially was grateful for her deep neurofeedback knowledge and kind caring awareness of how I was doing.  She was so safe and took deeper intention as I shared what was coming up in life during the 20 week process."
